' -2-
Conclusions
The surface and groundwater regime is dictated mainly by the steep terrain, heavy
spring runoff form snowpack, and the incised drainage channels along fault zones.
Flushing of both the surface and groundwater system occurs annually. Some elevated
values for TDS and iron are probably caused by mining. However, no impacts to
downstream users are evident. Improvements in the surface water runoff control
system may alleviate total suspended solids problems in Coal Creek. I would
recommend further review of outfall 016 on Dutch Creek, its associated watershed,
and its sediment control system.
m:\oss\scm\coalbas.mmo
