Wood <br /> (No. 3, MSHA ID No. 05-003000) , Bear Creek (No. 4, MSHA ID No. <br /> 05-003510 ) , and the Coal Basin (No. 5, MSHA ID No. 05-02342) . <br /> This sequence provides for sealing the last upper and lower <br /> portals of each mine simultaneously in order to provide a <br /> natural ventilation circuit until the last seal is in place. <br /> Seals 6 and 7 , 13 and 14 , and 40 and 41 will be built <br /> simultaneously. <br /> 8 .0 The method of ventilating the mine during sealing shall be via <br /> natural ventilation or auxiliary ventilation if required as <br /> stated in section 9.1 since disassembly of surface electrical <br /> sub-stations has commenced and electrical power is no longer <br /> available for mine ventilation and mine fan operation. <br /> 9 .0 Whenever sealing is being done, a certified person shall be <br /> present at all times and sealing operations will only proceed <br /> provided that the ambient methane content of the atmosphere in <br /> the sealing location is less than 1 .0 percentum by volume and <br /> the ambient atmospheric conditions are such that 19. 5 <br /> percentum by volume or more oxygen is present. <br /> 9.1 The certified person will take oxygen and methane checks <br /> every 20 minutes at the sealing location with a gas <br /> detection multi-meter. No work will be performed in an <br /> atmosphere containing less than 19.5 percentum by volume <br /> oxygen or in an atmosphere containing 1.0 percentum by <br /> volume or more methane. <br /> 9. 2 If the atmosphere at the sealing location contains less <br /> than 19 .5 percentum by volume oxygen or 1 .0 percentum by <br /> volume or more methane personnel will be withdrawn from <br /> the sealing location. <br /> 9. 3 If the atmosphere at the sealing location contains less ' <br /> than 19. 5 percentum by volume oxygen or 1 .0 percentum by <br /> volume or more methane work will not be resumed until <br /> line brattice is erected within the unsealed mine portals <br /> to redirect the nine' s natural ventilation or until <br /> auxiliary mechanical ventilation is installed such that <br /> the atmosphere in the sealing location contains 19. 5 <br /> Mid-ConYlnent , Mine <br /> - APPROVED CMS & H JUN 2 3 '93 <br />
