Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
Topsoil Replacement at Sutey Refuse Pile
Request for Proposal
Scope of Work
The enclosed map at a scale of 1 "=100 ' shows the current
configuration of the Sutey coal refuse pile . The pile is located
near Redstone , Colorado. The area highlighted in yellow shows the
area where topsoil must be spread . North and east slopes should
receive 12 to 18 inches , west slopes should get 18 to 24 inches and
south slopes should get 24 to 30 inches .
Also shown are two topsoil stockpile areas which are the sole
source of the soil . Assuming an average depth of 20 inches over an
area of 13. 1 acres , this results in a volume of approximately
35 , 000 cubic yards .
A scraper is the most efficient machine to perform the work . Since
a scraper initially removed the topsoil from the area and built the
two stockpiles , little dozer help should be needed; nevertheless ,
any loading assistance should also be the responsibility of the
bidder .
Approximate haul parameters :
- average haul distance is approximately 560 feet
- an average loaded grade of 9 . 5%.
Other items :
- soil should be spread as evenly as possible to minimize final
grading work by dozer (not part of this work) .
- spreading operation should minimize compaction, where possible.
The bid should be lump sum and bidder should provide all labor ,
materials , fuel and equipment needed for the job . Bidder must
provide general liability insurance for $1 ,000 ,000 . All of the
successful bidder ' s personnel to be used on the site must have
current worker ' s compensation . The work will take place in June of
1994 . Pictures on the enclosed pages show the refuse pile and
topsoil stockpiles . Please reply within 7 days .
