Box 1298
Glenwood Springs, Colorado 81602
RE: Coal Basin Mine (C-81-017) Reclamation Schedule
Dear Ms. Delaney:
The Mined Land Reclamation Board revoked Mid-Continent's mining and reclamation permit
during the August 1992 Board Meeting and ordered Mid-Continent to perform reclamation
as approved in the permit application. In addition to this, the May 1991 Board Order and
Settlement Agreement provided for a reclamation schedule to be implemented in the event
that the mine would not be sold.
The Agreement required reclamation to initiate on June 1, 1992. As the potential mine
sale went beyond that date, reclamation did not begin as scheduled. We wish to reiterate
that Mid-Continent continues to be responsible for performing the reclamation according to
the May 1991 schedule.
There are a number of commitments which should be completed this field season. Some
of these involve responses to stipulations, and the others with on-the-ground compliance.
The details of these activities can be found in the Permit Revision PR-03 approval
document.
Please provide the Division by October 16, 1992 a plan to complete these activities by
November 20, 1992. If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Anthony J. Waldron
Reclamation Specialist
AJW/yjb
m:\oss\yjb\midcont
