Remedial efforts in the area will be suspended until suitable access is established via future ore
placement in the area down- gradient from the lower -most portions of the sloughed area. Current
VLF stacking plans indicate that this will be some time in 2013.
Once the ore on the VLF is stacked to just below the lower -most elevation of the sloughed area,
the following is a general description of planned remedial efforts:
• Removal of the disturbed portions of the DCF,
• Removal of the geosynthetic liner component beneath the entire exposed and disturbed
DCF areas,
• Inspection of the SLF to confirm integrity, repairs therein if necessary to designed
specifications,
• Replacement of the geosynthetic liner (likely double sided, textured, linear low density
polyethylene) component to designed specifications,
• Replacement of the DCF components (including solution collection piping) to designed
specifications,
• Completion and submittal of a Construction Quality Assurance ( "CQA ")report to DRMS,
and
• Upon approval of said report, ore will be placed.
We are also evaluating the possibility of delaying DCF placement until just before the ore is
placed in a given area.
Please contact me at (719)- 689 -4048 should you have questions or wish to discuss this response.
Sincere
ar Vano 1
Chief Environmental Coordinator
Enclosures:
AMEC Memorandum entitled "Geomembrane Leak Location Survey" dated 09 May 2012
Xcopy: Kevin Riley, Process and Interim Projects Manager, CC &V Gold Mining Company
