RE : Request for Technical Assistance at Coal Basin Mine
Dear Mr. Fulton:
The Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology is beginning to plan for
1998 reclamation construction. Part of the work currently scheduled for
1998 is construction of the Dutch Creek Diversion at the Mid-Continent
Resources Coal Basin Mine . This work is possible, in part, due to your
efforts to secure an Office of Surface Mining Civil Penalty Grant for
construction of the diversion.
Previously, the staff of the Western Support Center assisted us through
the development of the diversion design. We would again like to request
the assistance of your staff . Specifically, we would request that Hal
Pranger and Allen Wilhelm spend two days at the Coal Basin Mine in early
September with me to assist in locating the foot print of the diversion
on-the-ground. We believe it would be important to allow the designer
of the diversion to accurately locate the channel position, and to make
any other design adjustments deemed necessary in the field.
