I have researched the permit files in an
attempt to determine the extent of reclamation approved for the
warehouse area during permitting of the mine. In 1996 I conducted
field work in order to supplement existing concepts, and to
establish sufficient data to make recommendations regarding
reclamation of these areas. I have attempted to collate all of
this information in this memo.
The attached narrative briefly describes the areas to be reclaimed
under the scope of the Warehouse Project, the approved reclamation
plan for each work area, and discusses the reclamation concept
proposed for construction at each area. An alternative reclamation
concept, where appropriate, is provided for your consideration. I
am requesting that you provide any comments which you may have, and
ultimately approve of the proposed reclamation concepts by March 1,
1997 in order that I may draft the appropriate specifications.
The Forest Service is negotiating to purchase a tract of land which
contains the Warehouse Project area. Representatives of the Forest
Service expressed approval of the conceptual reclamation plans
during field visits in 1996. Should the Forest Service not
purchase this property, conflicts will potentially arise between
the conceptual reclamation plans and the housing development plan
previously proposed by Resources.
CC: Jim McArdle
Cheryl Linden
Jim Pendleton
C:\wp51\midc\bids\wrsepin
