Mr. Michael Long
Mr. Kevin Riordan
April 20, 1998
Page - 4
and work described in Steve Renner's Memo of March 20, 1998.
As discussed, Mid - Continent /Trustee, LLC, will propose
to perform reclamation functions at the Unit Train Loadout as
part of the conversion of that property to the recently zoned
Light Industrial uses. We hope that money otherwise allocated to
this project from the Reclamation Fund can be paid into the trust
fund described below.
Mid - Continent reiterates the proposal that unexpended
funds in excess of the cost of reclamation according to the
approved Reclamation Plan be paid into a Trust Fund to be used to
protect and enhance the ecological, historic and recreational
values of Coal Basin, including the coke ovens. Examples would
be expenditures for environmental remediation, repair of the
Lamphouse, road, trail and parking lot development and
maintenance, developing and maintaining historic and educational
exhibits and documents at the Lamphouse (hopefully, in
conjunction with an Interpretive Agreement with the Forest
Service).
We appreciate the fact that the DMG has initiated these
discussions, and also appreciate the constructive nature of the
meeting held on April 15.
RD /lta
cc: Mr. Steve Renner
Mr. Adam Poe
Ms. Cheryl Linden
Sincerely,
MID - CONTINENT MINERALS CORPORATION
By -
Robert Delaney
President
