Noxious Species Absolute Cover
Beltline Reference Area#4
1998 Sample Mean . . . . . . 41%
1999 Sample Mean . . . . . . 1.0%
2000 Sample Mean . . . . . . 7.0%
There has been a dramatic and visually apparent decrease in noxious species cover between 1998
and 2000, along the two transects. The small sample size renders the value of statistical
evaluation questionable. In 2000, there were no noxious species recorded on the upper transect,
while noxious species accounted for 14.6% cover on the lower transect. The dominant noxious
species in 1998 were oxeye daisy and plumeless thistle, which accounted for 21% and 16%
absolute cover respectively. Combined absolute cover of these species was 1% in 1999 and 4%
in 2000.
