Sutey Pile Collection Ditch System
Exhibit 1 shows the final map of the reclaimed Sutey Refuse Area .
Collection ditches are numbered 1 through 8 . All ditches except
Ditch #8 are dug out of the re-topsoiled area and do not have any
special lining . Ditch #1 is trapezoidal in nature . Ditches 2
through 7 are V-ditches .
Ditch #8 has a very steep slope and has had problems in the past
using a rip-rap lining . For this reason , the ditch has been re-
designed using the C- 125 lining material that is also used in the
Sutey Diversion .
The entire hydrologic system has been sub-divided into 16
subwatersheds and each are routed to the sediment pond inlet using
the Storm program developed by the Office of Surface Mining .
Overlay 1 , which when placed directly over Exhibit 1 , shows all of
the watersheds , the null structures , the CN numbers and the
acreages for each watershed . The printout shows all the routing
parameters and the peak flows for each null structure .
The ditch designs follow the peak flow printout . The Storm program
was also used to design all ditches except for Ditch #8 which is to
be a vegetated channel and is calculated separately .
A11 ditches have been designed for the 100 year - 24 hour event of
2 . 8 inches . Since the area is to be revegetated with grasses , a CN
of 79 will be assumed for the long term condition of all reclaimed
watersheds . A CN of 76 is used for all undisturbed watersheds .
(.7
