F ,
Dear Pis. Quinn:
We appreciate you writing us on October 30, 1992, with your concern about
access for the public through Redstone Corporation's (RC) land adjacent to
Highway 133 in the Coal Creek valley. According to our research there is no
recorded easement or right-of-way deed for the general public to access Coal
Basin through RC's land. We also have the same concern as you, and are
currently working with RC's representative for a public right-of-way (ROW) .
Informal discussions indicate that RC knows the public has been going through
this property, and has no desire to deny them that access. Future landowners
may not have this same sentiment. We will continue to negotiate to obtain this
ROW as we work with Mid-Continent Resources, Colorado Mine Land Reclamation
Division, and other public and private entities to reclaim Coal Basin, so the
majority owners, the public of the United States, can be proud of and use one
of their natural resources.
Bob Lawton is available in case you have additional concerns or questions.
Thank you again for your interest in the management of the White River National
Forest.
Sincerely,
KEVIN T.
