Chapter II <br /> The rock tunnel portal area is the site of the lamphouse/office <br /> complex, and all employees, material and equipment travel or are <br /> transported to this area to reach the tunnel. Road A is presently <br /> used as an access road. <br /> ( 3 ) Main-terzarice <br /> The roads will be maintained for current use. <br /> Snow Removal. <br /> Snow clearing and avalanche control on roads and benches will <br /> be done as necessary for access to facilities and safety of <br /> personnel . <br /> In recent years, winter access has been maintained to Mine <br /> Portals #1 and #2, but has not been maintained to Mine Portals <br /> #3 , #4 and #5, given their current idle status. <br /> Other than snow removal, maintenance of the the roads is <br /> generally done after snowmelt and before snowfall. <br /> Spring/summer Maintenance. <br /> Road maintenance after the snow melts will include repair of <br /> ditches, clean-out and repair of culverts and cross drainage <br /> structures , grading of the road, re-establishment of water <br /> bars and berms, repair of rilling and erosion channels, as <br /> necessary. <br /> After storm events, road ditches and culverts will be <br /> inspected to identify areas of storm damage, filled in ditches <br /> or plugged culverts. Repairs and clean-out will be done as <br /> expeditiously as possible. <br /> Material cleaned from the B.A.T. ponds and ditches, and <br /> material excavated during culvert installaton and replacement <br /> and installation of rolling dips will be deposited on the No. <br /> 1 Mine landfill until it is seeded. <br /> - Road Culverts <br /> Placement of Culverts <br /> During the summer of 1992 , culvert D-1N and D-2N will be <br /> installed. <br /> Culvert downstructures may be used on very steep, erosive <br /> 19 Revised 12/91 <br />
