Waldron eC/8tid 2
r1a
Reclamation Specialist On®%V%sj®n
Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman St.
Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: TR-23 - Request for extension of review period.
Dear Mr. Waldron:
The Division's adequacy review, which I received in a letter dated
February 7, 1992, raised several issues which are most
appropriately referred to the prospective operator of the mine.
Mid-Continent has very recently reached an agreement with Crystal
Springs Coal Corp. (CSC) , under which CSC will move forward toward
completion of its diligence review, with the aim of acquiring the
Coal Basin mine.
At this time, CSC has not had an opportunity to review and respond
to the issues raised by the Division in the adequacy review of TR-
23 , which concerns non-coal waste disposal, and other reclamation
issues.
The Division had proposed to issue its decision on the TR request
today, March 23 . I wish by this letter to request a one-month
extension, so as to allow CSC an opportunity to review and respond
to the Division's adequacy concerns. As the mine site is presently
under snow cover, this extension will not affect or delay on-the-
ground work or compliance.
Yours truly,
Diane Delaney
Mid-Continent Resources
cc: Roger Hendriksen
