i
15. Enclosed is Dr. Pendleton's memo concerning subsidence monitoring. As he
states in the memo, Mid-Continent needs to commit to monitoring for the
permit end requirment during the summer of 1988. Also, if double-pass
longwall mining is requested for this application, a plan must be
submitted to allow for instigation of monitoring over that panel in an
accessible season of the year.
16. The bond is currently being reviewed. If any issues arise, notifications
will be sent.
17. Closing of the drift openings at the portals is described as sealing with
25 feet of concrete rubble. The MSHA site actually refers to a solid
wall . The narrative should be revised to coincide with the bonding
scenario presented September 19, 1986 which states that a cement or
cement block plug will be placed in each of the upper portals.
18. Several mentions have been made that the rock tunnel pile will not be
reclaimed in expectation of completing the tunnel through to Huntsmans
Ridge. It is my understanding that the rock tunnel pile is not currently
approved for the increased material that would come from the expansion
through the Huntsmans Ridge. This needs to be clarified within the
narrative of the permit application.
The status of stipulations is enclosed as an attachment. Please call if you
have any questions.
Sincerely,
Candace M. Thompson
Hydrologist
CMT/vjr
cc: Bob Liddle
4895F
