Dept. of Nalrai Nt;yuurces
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Re:.', Proposed New Refuse Pile Conveyor Belt System
Coal Basin Permit C-017-81
Dear Jim:
Enclosed are three sets of drawings and description of the proposed
conveyor belt system fran the wash plant to the center of the five-year
refuse pile. The belt will be 36 inches wide and the entire system will
be covered (see examples). The section fran the wash plant to Coal Creek
(including tube) will be contained in the slurry pond temporarily (Phase I).
A new pond will be constructed adjacent and north of the slurry pond
(Phase II). See map. The total disturbed area, shown in red, is 0.56
acres, the new pond area, shown in green, will be 0.6 acre feet; detailed
plans to follow shortly. The entire system will be built on bents and
trusses like the present coal refuse belt. In fact, various parts of the
old refuse system (steel) will be used in the new one.
The section over Coal Creek (160 feet +) will be in an eight-foot
tube. The section of belt north of Coal Creek will drain into the two
sediment ponds (in yellow). See Cross-sections.
If you have any further questions please contact me.
Sincerely,

Environmental Coordinator
DWBoviman:ms
Enclosures
