Golder Associates
aCONSULTING GEOTECHNICAL AND MINING ENGINEERS RECEIVED
September 14, 1984 SEP 18 1984
MINED LAND RECLAMATION DIVISION
Mined Land Reclamation Division
Colo. Dept. of Natural Resources
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203
Attention: Mr. Jim Herron
Reclamation Specialist
Reference: File No. C-017-81
Technical Revision - Disposal of Coal Processing Waste
at the Rock Tunnel Waste Disposal Area
Mid-Continent Resources, Inc.
Gentlemen:
Enclosed please find the revisions and additions to our design of the
rock tunnel waste disposal facility. With reference to your letter of
August 23, 1984 to Mr. Doug Bowman of Mid-Continent Resources concern-
ing the above-referenced project, we have addressed stipulations No. 10
and 11 . Stipulation No. 10 has been addressed by showing on the con-
struction drawings the route of the natural subdrain existing below the
pile as observed prior to construction, and inclusion of calculations
in the report to show that this natural subdrain is adequate to handle
the anticipated flow from the sump. Stipulation No. 11 has been ad-
dressed by sloping the top of the pile, during construction, to the
south into the hillslope. Directing runoff in this manner increases
the runoff flow to be carried by the east runoff collection ditch;
calculations to be included in the report call for this ditch to be
enlarged from that in the original design. These changes are also
included in the construction drawings.
We have provided only the sheets to be added or substituted into the
report. Your existing report copies should be updated according to the
following:
1 ) Substitute new sheets 9a through 11 for old sheets 9 through
11 , showing calculations for the road and east runoff collec-
tion ditches;
2) Substitute new sheets 1 through 3, showing calculations for
the drainage sump, for old sheet 1 ;
3) Substitute new construction drawing sheets 2, 3, and 4 of 5
for old ones.
GOLDER ASSOCIATES,INC -17301 W COLFAX AVENUE,SUITE 275,GOLDEN(DENVER),COLORADO 80401 U S A -TELEPHONE(303)278-8662
OFFICES IN CANADA-UNITED STATES-UNITED KINGDOM-AUSTRALIA
