MID-CONTINENT RESOURCES. INC
201 Centennial St..Suite 406
Glenwood Springs. Colorado 81601
(303)945-49i8
January 21, 1985 RECEIVED
JAN 2 ;
MINED LAND WLAMATION DIVISIOPJ
Mr. Jim Herron, Reclamation Specialist Colo. Dept. of Natural Resources
Mined Land Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Gas Well Light Use Road, Huntsman Ridge
Dear Jim:
I am still at a loss as to your concern that the woody plant
density sampling accomplished by Intermountain Soils last
summer may not be adequate for you to approve the permit
technical revision application for the gas well road extension
on Huntsman Ridge. As you know, it wasn't easy to acquire
the soils and vegetation data at 11, 500 feet elevation due
to the adverse road and weather conditions last summer.
The 20 samples taken by Tom Colbert of Intermountain Soils, Inc.
certainly should provide the site specific data needed to add to
that already sampled and described in the original application
baseline inventory for the spruce-fir/parkland vegetation type
(See Section III-H in Volume 6 and maps III-H-1 and III-H-2) .
Enclosed is a memo from Tom Colbert to me on the subject. He
also feels that his sampling was adequate when compared to that
accomplished and accepted in other areas in and outside of Coal
Basin.
Please review Tom' s memorandum, the baseline inventory data for
this type vegetation community supplied in the original permit
application. I believe you will find it more than adequate
when considering that its purpose is to provide a portion of the
baseline data needed for the reclamation plan.
Tom Colbert can be made available for any questions of a technical
nature you may still have on this problem.
I hope we can clear up this question and have the technical
revision approved at an early date.
Sincerely,
Geo E. Wear
Director, Special Projects
Enclosure
