Limited - Results Archaeological Survey Form (Page 2 of 8)
II. DESCRIPTION OF UNDERTAKING / PROJECT
10. Type of Undertaking: Five core holes will be drilled and used to investigate the potential for
subsurface coal deposits. A proposed waterline 7500 ft length and a 5800 -ft long powerline will
be constructed as part of the Twentymile West Mine facility.
11. Size of Undertaking (acres): 0.7 acres Size of Project (if different) 9.4 acres
12. Nature of the Anticipated Disturbance: Each drill site will consist of vegetation clearing and
surface leveling of a small area not exceeding 50ft x 50ft. A truck - mounted coring machine will
core the subsurface for potential buried coal deposits. Locations will be accessed by existing
roads and trails and no additional ground disturbance will occur. The proposed waterline totals
7500 ft in length, with an alternate route of 3500 ft in length. The proposed powerline is
approximately 5800 ft in length. The routes will be collocated within a 50 -ft construction corridor
the entire distance unless the alternate waterline route is selected. All but 300 ft of the
alignment has been previously covered by MAC in a block survey for the West Mine Subsidence
project in 2007 (O'Brien 2007); no sites were recorded near or within the current project area.
The remaining 300 ft X 200 ft wide survey corridor was inventoried for the current project.
13. Comments:
III. PROJECT LOCATION
Please attach a photocopy of USGS Quad clearly showing the project location. The Quad should be clearly labeled with
the Prime Meridian, Township, Range, Section(s), Quad map name, size, and date. Please do not reduce or enlarge the
photocopy.
14. Description: The proiect area is located approximately 10 miles northwest of Oak Creek. Take
Routt County (CR) 27 west out of Oak Creek 13 miles to CR 37. Take CR37 west for 0.1 mile to
a dirt road. Travel an additional 0.1 mile to a wire gate where TCW009 is found approximately
700ft southwest of the gate on the north side of Fish Creek. The remaining four drill sites
(TCW008, 10, 11 & 12) are to the south and east of Fish Creek. To access the waterline /pipeline
segment, travel south on CR37 half a mile to a dirt two -track that veers off to the west. The
survey segments are approximately 3/4 mile to the west from this point.
15. Legal Location: Quad. Map: Dunkley and Rattlesnake Butte (1973)
Principal Meridian: 6th X NM — Ute —
