cow cEwny <br />June 15, 2012 <br />Ms. Susan Burgmaier <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety <br />1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 <br />Denver, CO 80202 <br />RE: Seneca II -W Mine (Permit C -82 -057) <br />TR -78, Reduction in Sediment Pond Monitoring <br />Ms. Burgmaier, <br />Seneca Coal Company (SCC) is submitting this technical revision (TR -78) to request a reduction <br />in the current annual monitoring of select sediment ponds in the II -W permit area. <br />Now that SCC has received Phase I bond release on the majority of the disturbed area and a <br />significant portion of the disturbed area has been revegetated for over two (2) years, the area has <br />established a high degree of stability. SCC requests that the current annual monitoring of the <br />following ponds be reduced from the annual schedule to the following. <br />Pond 005 every 5 years <br />Pond 006 every 5 years <br />Pond 009 every 5 years <br />Pond 015 every 5 years <br />Pond 016 annually <br />Pond 017- every 5 years <br />Attached are 2 copies of the application form, insertion instructions, and the revised permit <br />information.
