1 vine, 3 succulents, 17( perennial grasses, 2 annual grasses, 31 perennial
forbs, 16 annual and biennial forbs, and 1 moss. See Table 6.
Eleven plant species or 11 percent of the flora are introduced from
outside the geographic gion. Halogeton, an introduced annual , is
listed by Thornton et al (1974) as a prohibited noixous weed, especially
difficult to control . .is species is also known to be poisonous to
livestock, especially s Jeep. Gilia Siiia jtenothyAja, an annual forb,
is a new record for thol tate of Colorado (W. A. Weber, University of
Colorado Museum, person I communication) . This collection is of interest
because jC .tia .1tenoth ILhad been regarded as an endemic species of the
Uinta Basin (Graham 19 ', Cronquist et al . 1972) . The collection in
Coal Canyon establishes its presence outside the Uinta Basin. Although
previously known from tie Uinta Basin, it is apparently not common even
there.
No selenium indicators were found on the site.
3.4 THREATENED OR ENDA14PERED PLANT SPECIES
Of species officialAy listed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service
(USFWS 1980) as threate ed or endangered, only one, the hookless Uinta
bas i n cactus P ediocactu 9, aucu j (a I so known as ScCenvcactuj g-taucuj) ,
has a known distributio , close to the study area. This cactus was not
observed within any of he vegetation types on the permit area. Of
species listed as currently under review (USFWS 1980) and with potential
for occurrence in the s udy area, there are two, Wetherill milkvetch
A,j.tnaga.tu,j wethe tiZ&4 #td c 11 f f dwe I I e r s c a n d I e s t i c k auptantha etata.
Considering the ecologi'6 I requirements of these species, it is theo-
retically possible that they could occur in the study area. However, the
ecological inventory did not verify these species to be present. Likewise,
none of the species lis ed by the Colorado Natural Heritage Inventory
(1980) as "plant specie Iof special concern" have been observed in the
study area.
3.5 SAMPLE CHARACTERIS CS AND ADEQUACY
Table 7 provides da a on the adequacy of cover, production, and
shrub density sampling, Ind on species diversity. A statistically
adequate number of cove land shrub density samples were taken. Adequacy
was not achieved for pr uction; however, the maximum number of samples
(as agreed on by CMLR) s taken.
3.6 DATA TABLES AND OT R
i TABULAR INFORMATION
This section conta s all data tables and other tabular information
as presented and descri d in previous sections except summary tables
which appear in Section .0.
-14-
