EXHIBIT D — MINING PLAN
The operation proposes to extract rock from the existing permitted
area by the owner Telluride Regional Airport Authority (TRAA) for use
as building stone and landscape blocks.
The operation anticipates starting on July 15, 2012.
The existing permitted area is 10.5 acres. The permitted area will be
apportioned into 4 quadrants of approximately 2.625 acres each, with
the dividing lines running north to south in the middle of the area and
east to west in the middle of the area. The 50 foot setback along the
southern edge of the permitted area will remain undisturbed as it is
presently, to maintain minimal visual impact.
TSC intends to begin mining with the North East quadrant. The topsoil
will be removed and stored along the south 50 foot setback of the
South West quadrant. The overburden will then be removed and
placed to the east of the stored topsoil. The staging area which
includes our stone splitters, generators and processing equipment will
be moved to the west which will be located at the center of the
permitted area. The extracted rock will be placed in windrows to the
west of the splitters. Stockpiles may be established for incidental
rubble that is hauled off site and processed by others for gravel. These
stockpiles will be established between the southern permit boundary
and the pit area, near the topsoil and overburden. Packaging materials
and finished palletized stone will be placed to the north of the
processing area, behind a berm.
TSC will excavate or mine to a depth not to exceed 50 feet.
TSC will begin excavating and mining approximately 2 acres in the
North East quadrant. The mining cycle includes topsoil removal,
removal of overburden material, mining of the sandstone layer, re-
filling the mined pit and completing the reclamation. As the operator
completes approximately 1 acre of mining, it will fill and compact the
mined area with a series of lifts of waste rock and overburden. This
acre will then be contoured, topsoil applied and reclaimed in
accordance with the attached reclamation plan. At that time, one
adjoining acre, either to the west or to the south of the originally
excavated 2 acres, will be excavated and mined. The direction of
mining, either south or west, will be undetermined until the quality of
the mined stone is determined.
