INTERCI FILE CORRESPONDENCE <br /> Date : Jule 5 , 198S <br /> 7o : John Turner <br /> From : Scott Jones <br /> Subject : Sedimentation Pond Inspection , Second Quarter 1988 <br /> On June 15 and 16 , 1988 an inspection was made of all Mid- <br /> Continent E.-sccurces , Inc . sedimentation ponds in Coal Basin and <br /> at the loadout in Carbondale . <br /> The purpose of this inspection was to ensure that all of the <br /> pvi-ds were stable and hazard free and to satisfy the re luirements <br /> of Rule 4 . 05 . 6 ( ll '� ( c ) arid 4 . 05 . 9 ( IV ( 6'� of the Colorado Mined <br /> Lard Reclamation Division ' s Rules and Regulations for Coal Mines . <br /> The inspection consisted of a visual inspection of em1-a,,kRen.ts , <br /> spillways , and outlets , and a measurement of water and sediment <br /> levels and discharge tolumes . hater levels were based on past <br /> sur,. ey information . Sedimentation levels were based on <br /> measurements. made using a prodding stick and knowledge of the <br /> last cleanout date . <br /> As noted on the enclosed inspection report some of the ponds <br /> desperately need to be cleaned . While the inspection was being <br /> perfc,imed , a dragline was cleaning the Slurry Pond . This dr ,gline <br /> is scht-duled to be operated on a continuous basis until all of <br /> the noted F :::,ds have been cleaned . <br /> Excer-t for the required cleaning , all of the ponds are in <br /> comF.liance �, ith Mined land Reclamation Division ' s Rules . <br /> Scott Jcres , P .
