Coal Basin/Dutch Creek Diversion Bid Numbcr PKA-9-424
Minerals and Geology requests permission to issue a change order to the above named project.
The change order will exceed the bid price by over twenty percent.
Completion of the Dutch Creek Diversion will result in construction of a large stream channel
which will isolate a portion of the Coal Basin Mine. It is necessary to import topsoil to the
isolated portion of the mine site in order to complete reclamation at that location. The topsoil
should be imported to the area prior to completion of the diversion channel in order to take
advantage of existing access. Upon completion of the diversion, access will become very
difficult, resulting in higher transportation costs.
Approxiluately 7,120 cubic yards of topsoil will be hauled and stockpiled to the cast side of the
diversion prior to loss of access. The total cost will be approximately $21,000- This equates to
$2.95 per cubic yard, which is competitive with estimates quoted by other contractors. Sufficient
fiords are available to complete this work.
Please contact me at (970) 250-5478 if you have questions regarding this cque t.
c
I
cc: Yvonne Brannon
Jim McArdle '
