PROJECT LOCATION SPECIAL CONDITIONS Coal Basin Mine/Wash Plant Area Demolition Project PICA-8-404 The project is located four miles west of Redstone in Pitkin County, Colorado. The mine is accessed via a paved service road. Roads on the mine property are improved dirt (Map 1, General Location Map). WORK SUMMARY The project will be conducted on a mine site previously permitted by the State of Colorado, Division of Minerals and Geology (Map 3, Coal Basin Mine Map). The site was active as an underground mining operation from 1953 until 1991. The Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board revoked the mining permit and forfeited the reclamation bond. The disturbances created as a result of activities at the site since August 3, 1977 are the subject of the reclamation activities addressed in this and subsequent Invitation to Bid documents. The project work will include concrete, asphalt, block wall and other masonry, and miscellaneous trash, debris and rubble demolition and disposal in the vicinity of the Wash Plant area at the Coal Basin Mine. PRE -BID MEETING AND SITE SHOWING A mandatory pre -bid meeting and site showing will be held at 10:30 a.m. on October 7, 1997. The pre -bid meeting will begin at the Coke Ovens on Highway 133 opposite the south entrance to Redstone, in western Pitkin County (see Map 2, Pre -Bid meeting location map). The Pre -Bid Meeting is for the purpose of showing prospective bidders the work site and vicinity. Bidders are advised to be prompt. A sign -in sheet will be available at the Pre -Bid meeting for firms to register their attendance. It is the bidder's responsibility to make certain their attendance is recorded on the sign -in sheet. Failure to sign -in or to attend the entire meeting will be cause for rejection of a bid.
