I have enclosed various articles
regarding the establishment of the John Denver Memorial Grove, as per our
conversation. As I mentioned to you on the phone, I have also been working with Mr.
Steve Renner of the Colorado Division of Minerals (970 241-0336). 1 have been working
diligently to organize a dedication ceremony and tree planting day at the site on August
15, 1998 from 1:00 — 5:00 pm.
You mentioned that any type of plaque would have to be worded very specifically— how
about a plaque that simply said something like "A Voice for the Wilderness -
Dedicated by the National Arbor Day Foundation and the Friends of John Denver
—August 15, 1999'
1 know you're very busy, and would be more than willing to commit some time to make
this a reality. Please let me know what I can do to expedite the finalization of the site,
and coordinate the volunteer tree planting. Again, it was a pleasure talking with you,
and I'm looking forward to working with you on this project.
Sincerely,
Evelyn Pinney
PO Box 1596
Vail, Colorado 81658
(970) 926-0918
cc: Mr. Steve Renner
