PUBLIC NOTICE New Elk Coal Company, LLC, 122 West First St., Trinidad, CO 81082 the operator of the Lorencito Mine, Permit number C -1996 -084, is filing for a technical revision (TR -17) to the mining permit with the State of Colorado, Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety. For filing purposes, this application was deemed complete by the Division on MONTH DAY, YEAR. The Lorencito Canyon Mine is located approximately 20 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado, Townships 33 and 34 South, Range 66 West, Section 33 and other unplatted lands on the Hill Ranch. The Hill Ranch is generally located southeast of Weston, Colorado. The mine permit area is approximately bounded by the South Fork of the Purgatoire River on the west, Highway 12 on the north, Lorencito and Bonita Canyons on the east and little Alamosa Canyon on the south. Map 2.03.4 -1 and Exhibit 2 of the permit application contain the lengthy, detailed legal description of the permit boundary. These lands can be located on the Tercio, Weston, and Little Pine Canyon USGS topographical 7.5 minute quadrangle maps. This technical revision addresses minor permit updates requested by Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety in their midterm permit review document. Tables in the permit are to be updated and a noxious weed control plan is to be added to the permit. A copy of the proposed revision is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County courthouse, Office of the County Recorder, and at the offices of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, 1313 Sherman St., Room 215, Denver, CO, 80203, (303) 866 -3567.
