1995 Ralam boa Bids July 7, 1995 Page 8 <br /> The proposed Mine Site Seed Mix is a mix submitted in a minor revision in <br /> September 1993 by Mid-Continent Resources. The mix incorporates <br /> species from the three previously approved Coal Basin Mines seed mixes <br /> and adds alpine bluegrass as a mix component. As with the other mixes, <br /> the seeding rate is approximately two times that recommended by the SCS <br /> for drill seeding. The seeding rate should be reduced by one half for drill <br /> seeding or maintained as is for hydro- or broadcast seeding. Based on my <br /> observations at other mines, I would recommend increasing the seeding <br /> rate of sheep fescue, a hardy reclamation spreading bunch grass. I <br /> personally question the inclusion of alpine bluegrass and tufted hairgrass, <br /> from the availability and expense standpoint. The only benefit to including <br /> alpine bluegrass and tufted hairgrass in the mix is to increase diversity, at a <br /> great increase of cost to the seed mix and application expense (they may <br /> require special handling since both have tiny seed). <br /> Mine 3 - Bid PKA-5-359 and Amendments 1 and 2 <br /> Project work proposed for 1995 at Mine # 3 consists of demolition and <br /> disposal of building and foundation remnants, back-filling material for mine <br /> bench outslopes against the highwall, contour furrow construction, and <br /> revegetation. <br /> Task 2 Demolition <br /> In the initial bid package, CDMG required all concrete and block building <br /> remnants and foundations to be demolished and removed to the base of the <br /> highwall. In the subsequent Amendment 1 CDMG modified the task to <br /> require removal of only those buildings and foundations which will not be <br /> covered by four feet of backfill resulting from backfilling and grading <br /> operations. This is consistent with our comments made during meetings <br /> with Pendleton and Sabian. <br /> TOTAL P.03 <br />
