May 24, 2012 C- 1981- 035/King Coal Mine MLT <br />• Mr. Bird observed that placement of the coal mine waste may have begun to encroach upon <br />the cover /fill material stockpiled at the upstream end of the pile (Photo 4). He said that the <br />coal mine water material will be removed as soon as possible and that the cover /fill resource <br />would be protected from contamination or loss. <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures <br />4.05.7, 4.05.10; Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Drainage — Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments <br />4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18: <br />• All ditches and culverts at the King I site appeared to be clear and capable of functioning <br />as designed. <br />• The East and West Sediment Ponds at King I were completely dry (Photos 5 and 6). <br />• Outlet structures were clear and appeared to be in good working order, and the ponds' <br />slopes and embankments appeared to be stable. <br />• Mr. Bird indicated that the mine would take advantage of the dry conditions within the <br />pond and conduct sediment removal operations. <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 8 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 Page 3 of 7 <br />
