The vegetation
currently on the property is meadow grass /alfalfa crop, and upland dry -land grasses and Kochia
weed in un- irrigated corners. One piton- covered rock outcropping is present along the east
border of the property out of the area affected by proposed operations.
The current dry-land can support 1 cow -calf pair unit per 100 acres. When irrigation water is in
priority (generally so), the confines of the sprinkler system produces 3 tons of hay per acre per
year. In years when water is out of priority, no production occurs on the property.
6.4.11 EXHIBIT K - Climate
The climate of the project area is temperate and arid (see chart below). There are no significant
climatological factors for the locality that affect operations except that during dry conditions
during the high- activity summer months, the irrigation system can be used for dust suppression.
6.4.12 EXHIBIT L - Reclamation Costs
The reclamation costs involve only reseeding the affected areas - which is periodically done
during normal agricultural operation of the property. Based on reseeding with either an alfalfa -
brome -oat mix or a Russian Wild Rye -Wheat Grass mix, seed costs of $1,200 per ten -acre
mining phase will be incurred. Planting (labor and equipment) for each phase is roughly $300.
6.4.13 EXHIBIT M - Other Permits and Licenses
The owner will be submitting the following applications for additional permits to conduct the
proposed mining operation:
(1) Chaffee County Mining Permit
18
