Therefore, exposure of ground <br />water must not occur during or after mining operations. <br />® The applicant has indicated plans to use other water for mining and crushing operations and for dust <br />control purposes at the permit site. The source of water for this use is unspecified wells. Applicant <br />needs to document that this water was diverted in priority under a water right decreed by Water Court or <br />well permit approved by the Colorado Ground Water Commission for such industrial use at the <br />proposed place of use. <br />COMMENTS: The applicant proposes to conduct a surface mining operation on 160 acres consisting of the S' /z <br />of the SE% and the SE% of the SW% of Sec. 30, and the NW% of the NE %4 of Sec. 31. Please note the SE% of <br />Sec. 30 is located within the boundaries of the Upper Crow Creek Designated Basin, and the Colorado Ground <br />Water Commission has jurisdiction. The primary commodities mined will be sand and gravel. Ground water is <br />not anticipated to be encountered in the mine zones. A small amount of water, not expected to exceed 6,000 <br />gallons per month, will be utilized for mining and crushing operations and for dust control purposes. This water <br />Is proposed to be obtained and hauled from the landowner's industrial permitted water wells. If stormwater <br />runoff is intercepted by this operation and is not diverted or captured in priority, it must be released to the stream <br />system within 72 hours. This may require a discharge permit from CDPHE -WQCD. Otherwise, the operator will <br />be required to make replacements for evaporation. The site will be reclaimed to its existing use of rangeland at <br />the conclusion of mining operations.
