June 4, 2012
(S ENECA
Coal Company
Mr. Jason Musick
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
RE: Seneca II Mine (Permit C -80 -005)
Technical Revision No. (TR -52) — Sagebrush Reference Area
Mr. Musick,
Seneca Coal Company
Seneca Coal Company (SCC) is submitting this technical revision (TR -52) to revise the configuration of
the sagebrush reference area. As a result of the infrastructure development for the PSCM, an overland
conveyor is proposed to effectively transport coal from PSCM to the processing and loadout operations at
the Twentymile Coal Company Facility. The most feasible route for the conveyor and ancillary roads will
traverse the western portion of the sagebrush reference area. The current areal extent of the sagebrush
reference area is approximately 8 acres. The eastern portion of the existing reference area after
establishment of the conveyor corridor is approximately 4 acres, and this will remain as the minimal areal
extent of the sagebrush reference area. Any remaining undisturbed portion of the original reference area
in addition to this area may be used to facilitate sampling distribution and effort. Likewise, until the
conveyor disturbance occurs, the entire existing 8 acre sagebrush reference area will be utilized for
sampling.
Attached are the required application form, public notice, insertion instructions, and the revised/updated
material. Enclosed are two (2) copies of an application for a technical revision to the Seneca II Mine
Permit (C -80 -005). Should you or any other member of the Division have questions regarding the
information, please contact me @ (970) 276 -5217 or (970) 846 -3648.
Sincerely,
Roy A.
