Will there be any probability
of a failure of the bulkheads effecting a sudden release of stored
waters and flooding downstream? Please evaluate.
b) By blocking the water flows, what effects will the mine waters
have on underground aquifers and water quality? Presuming that blocking
the flows will alter hydrologic flow patterns, is there any danger
to the municipal water supply on Boulder Creek? Please advise.
c) What are the short-term and long-term effects on streamflow in
Cement Creek? Any change in the streamflow pattern which would increase
downstream flooding? Please advise.
d) Is there any option available that protects the environment and
public safety without having to permanently seal the portals? The
more permanent the seal, the greater the obstacle to re-opening the
mine for production in the future. Please advise.
Should you have any questions or desire further discussion on these
concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at this office.
Sincerely,
William T. MacDougall
Mayor
rl
