Pipe bypass system and thrust rings. <br />Since the bypass pipe is to be grouted as soon as the concrete reaches the <br />bulkhead design strength, thrust is not a concern but SGC had planned to place 12 <br />gauge seep collars along the pipe. A 3/8" thrust ring will be added. It will be <br />placed 5' or more from the downstream face to distribute any loading that may <br />exist to the ribs. <br />As with the Terry Tunnel bulkhead the 3/8" thrust ring would provide a factor of <br />safety of 18 -20 if the pipe was not grouted and the Terry Tunnel design head was <br />realized.
