TR -22 Submittal
Page 3
MONITORING
SGC does not propose any additional monitoring. Current MLR Permit monitoring at
EC -1 and EC -34 will be sufficient to detect any major changes to water quality and with
the current quality of the water to be impounded behind the bulkhead, there is little risk
that this project will disturb the hydrological balance.
BONDING
All installations are to be left as permanent structures upon final reclamation and no
additional land within the MLR Permit area will be disturbed. Therefore, additional
reclamation costs will not be incurred for final reclamation. The existing bond amount
contains approximately $253,000 for replacement of the Terry Tunnel bulkhead. Upon
completion of this project, there will be in place an additional bulkhead precluding any
future need for replacement of the existing Terry Tunnel bulkhead. Therefore, additional
bonding should not be needed. Sunnyside may request a bond reduction at a later date to
reflect the final closure and reclamation of the Terry Tunnel site.
SGC believes this project will allow progress towards final reclamation of the Sunnyside
Mine and would like to complete it and reclamation of the surface disturbance at the
Terry Tunnel before weather conditions prevent further work at the site during 2000.
Therefore, if any additional information or clarification is needed for your consideration
of this TR submittal, please contact me. A check for $188 is included with this submittal
for the TR application fee.
cc: Allen Sorenson, DMG
S incerely,
Larry Perino
Reclamation Manager
