Funds pennitted the partial removal of the Carbon Lakes mine waste in the approximate 1,900
cubic yard amount the contract directed. Enclosed is a copy of the trucking receipts showing the limestone
quantities. I also enclosed a copy of the limestone chemistry as performed by Ground Engineering
Consultants, Inc. of Commerce City, showing the calcium carbonate content of the limestone used.
Limestone was more than adequately mixed into the mine waste as delivered. The JCB 215S backhoe was
an effective machine in equally incorporating the limestone as each load arrived. An average amount of 10
c.y. of mine waste was hauled per trip NArith the total amount of mine waste deposited at the Mayflower#4
pond site totaling right at 1,900 cubic yards. As observed in the field and shown by the trucking receipts,
the 764.33 tons of limestone was more than adequate in making the mine waste inert as dictated by the
acid/base results from Acculab in Durango.
The second phase of waste removal looks certain to be funded from 319 fiends. The applicant for the
grant is the ARSG who will be determining the proper administrative procedures for the project. At that
time, if DMG is chosen by the ASRG to continue to be the project manager including making reclamation
design directives incorporating best management practice decisions, if SGC is amenable, DMG would like
to continue to keep the option of depositing the remaining mine waste at the Mayflower#4 pond site with
the same stipulations of"inertness", retaining proper grade and notification requirements.
Once again, thank you for your role with SGC in supporting this opportunity to provide the best
remediation alternative to the Carbon Lakes site mine waste remediation. Feel free to call me at 970/248-
7253 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Paul Krabacher
Mineral Creek Hydrologic Control Project Manger
cc. file
A-27
