This permit is for the Holcim (US) Portland Plant quarry located adjacent to the <br />cement plant in Florence, Colorado. The quarry is located on the north side of the Arkansas <br />River. Groundwater in the area flows in a generally southerly direction toward the river. <br />Holcim proposes annual sampling of the following monitoring wells: <br />• MW -12 - Background well located in the north end of the quarry. <br />• MW -7 - Compliance well located in the southwest area of the quarry (approximately' <br />mile inside the quarry main entrance). <br />• MW -13 - Compliance well located in the southeast area of the quarry, approximately 100 <br />feet north west of the intersection of State Highway 120 and Bear Creek (approximately <br />1/4 mile east of the main quarry entrance). <br />In addition, Holcim will continue monitoring water level in wells P -2, P -3, MW -9, and MW -11. <br />Holcim proposes monitoring for the following parameters: <br />• Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) <br />• Sulfate (SO4) <br />• Potassium (K) <br />• Sodium (Na) <br />• Iron (Fe) <br />• Manganese (Mn) <br />
