October 1998 Monthly Report
Page 2
- Sunnyside Mine Pool Mitigation - Alkaline Solution Injection
This project was not active in October 1998. The water
pool pH, at the American Tunnel bulkhead, was 3 .87 and the
bulkhead pressure was 363 psi.
Sunnyside will continue to monitor these parameters.
"B List" Projects
- Columbus Mine Portals -Mine Waste Dumps
- London Mine Portals - Waste Dumps
Work, permitting or arrangement for access is not planned
until it becomes evident that the work plans for these
projects require implementation.
Sunnyside has continued towards implementation of the work
plans submitted for addition under the Consent Decree as
"B List" projects. Based on CDPHE's assurance that they
will become "B List" projects, Sunnyside has included them
under the MLR and Stormwater permits and began
construction on the Mayflower Facility - Upland
Hydrological Control project.
- Cement Creek Diversion and Water Treatment
Cement Creek diversion and water treatment was active
continuously throughout October. The flow of Cement Creek
in October was below the treatment system's capacity and
the entire flow was diverted for treatment. The flow
diverted and treated in October ranged from 409 G.P.M. to
708 G.P.M.
Attached are October, 1998 monitoring results for;
dissolved metals in the AT-004 discharge; Cement Creek
diverted for treatment (CC-1B) ; American Tunnel flow
before treatment (AT-INFEL) ; and Cement Creek below the
AT-004 discharge point (CC-20) .
