May 1999 Monthly Report
Page 3
The May 1999 monitoring results for; dissolved metals in the AT-004 discharge; Cement
Creek diverted for treatment (CC-1B); American Tunnel flow before treatment (AT-
INFEL); and Cement Creek below the AT-004 discharge point (CC-20) are attached to
this report.
Mainstem Stream Monitoring and Reference Point Stream Monitoring
Sunnyside sampled the reference point (A-72) on May 6, 1999. The results from this
sample are attached. The Bureau of Reclamation sampled the other three gaging station
(A-68, M-34 and C-48).
The provisional flow on May 6, 1999 at A-72 was 125 cfs which places this sample result
in the intermediate flow category(100cfs <Q<300 cfs). The dissolved zinc value for this
sample, obtained by averaging the results from two labs, was 1013 ug/l.
Sunnyside expedited analysis for the June samples due to the high dissolved zinc value
received from the May sample. Sunnyside sampled the reference point (A-72) and the
three gaging stations (A-68, M-34 and C-48) on June 9, 1999. The results from these
samples are included with this report.
The provisional flow on June 9, 1999 at A-72 was 1090 cfs which places this sample
result in the high flow category (Q>300 cfs). The dissolved zinc value for this sample,
obtained by averaging the results from two labs, was 211 ug/l.
The index number for the May sample is calculated as follows:
Xi = 1013
Xc = 399
Sf = 144
Ni = (Xi —Xf) /Sf
Ni = (1013 —399)/144
Ni =+4.26
The index number for the June sample is calculated as follows:
Xi = 211
Xc= 306
Sf = 104
