Steel #520
Denver, Colorado 80209
Dear Tom:
Attached are results from the analyses of the Lake Emma Te_st Plot samples you
sent us recently. As you can see, the data are quite favorable. Of
particular note are the following conclusions:
1. The paste pH and water extraction pH from the PrOMac treated plot are
higher than the control plot.
2. The net acidity is much lower (approximately 64%) in the ProMac
treated plot.
3. In spite of higher (by 125%) pyritic-sulfur in the ProMac treated
plot, the sulfates are only 21% of the control plot, showing control
of acid formation.
4. In the water extracts, iron and aluminum are very similar but
extremely low in both samples. However, the manganese content is
almost 9 times higher in the control sample.
5. The lime requirement for neutralization is further confirmation of
greater acidity in the control sample.
We believe that the ProMac treatment is serving its purpose and the secondary
effects from the control of acid and metal solubilization should be showing
up in the revegetation effort.
You have BFGoodrich permission to use this data in a technical presentation
if you so wish. However, please also obtain clearance from Sunnyside Mine.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Uy
Vijay Rastogi
vm
cc: harry Perino
Sunnyside Mine
Attch.
