ANNUAL REPORT
Operator: Oldcastle SW Group, Inc. dba United Companies of Mesa
County
Location: Chambers Pit
File Number: M- 1979 -075
Anniversary Date: May 29, 2012
This location experienced several events during this reporting period. High
water in spring of 2011 washed out the north side riverbank separating the
Colorado River from Lake Yvonne. As a result the lake was captured by the
river. United Co. obtained permission and approval to armor parts of the
north bank to prevent further erosion. Armor features included large
boulder "J" hooks, embedded tree trunks, (to discourage riverbank
scouring) and reseeding + willow transplanting in two areas. As part of this
operation United Co. mined pit run from the main channel of the river
(within the permit boundary) to slightly deepen the channel in this area.
Channel mining may be repeated in the future depending on river run off.
Weed control has been handled by landlord's livestock. The pit is mined
out but has been used as a haul road from Glen's Pit to the main Rifle Pit.
This haul road will no longer be used for daily hauling as a new haul road is
now ready on adjacent United Co. Casey Pit property.
