Pineda
Director
The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety has received a revision for the West Elk Mine.
The revision was called complete on May 24, 2012. The decision due date is July 23, 2012.
The Mountain Coal Company, LLC has submitted a Technical Revision to the West Elk Mine's
permit to revise the location of MDW pad and road locations for longwall panel E4. The revision is
proposing to decrease the disturbance boundary by approximately acres. This decrease is based on
a proposed reduction in the length on new road construction. The Division will recalculate the
mine's reclamation liability as a result of this revision.
If you have any questions, please contact me.
Sincerely,
James R.
