As was
discussed in our phone conversation this morning, no permits are required
for sources of air pollution that existed prior to February 1, 1972, which
was the effective date of the air pollution emission regulation requiring
emission permits. Sources commencing construction or operation after the
above date do require the issuance of an air pollution emission permit from
the Air Pollution Control Division.
Also requiring emission permits are existing sources which increase emis-
sions of any air pollutant to the atmosphere. For the purposes of determin-
ing these increases, the Division policy is one of requiring new permits for
emission increases greater than 10% above existing levels.
As the regulations pertain to the Mid Continent Resources' operation, my
last on-site inspection occurred on July 23, 1980. At that time all appli-
cable rules and regulations covering air pollution emissions plus all permit
requirements on sources for which they are required were being complied with.
If you have any other questions or need additional clarification, please call
me.
Sincerely,
Scott J. m er
Air Pollution Control Division
SJM/zp
cc: Denver Office
Grand Junction Office: 125 N. 8th St. #10, Grand Junction CO 81501 245-2400
4210 EAST 11TH AVENUE DENVER,COLORADO 80220 PHONE (303) 320-8333
