The West-Central Colorado Coal Environ- <br /> mental Statement of the Bureau of Land Management inventoried <br /> wildlife range in the study region which includes the Coal <br /> Basin and surrounding areas . The BLM studies indicate that : <br /> Coal Basin is within the elk and bear <br /> range (See Figure III-I-8) . <br /> Coal Basin borders the Bighorn Sheep <br /> Summer Range but is not within the range (s) of endangered <br /> species , nokomis fritillar butterflies , prairie dogs , or <br /> wild horses . It is not within or adjacent to the Bighorn <br /> Sheep winter range . (Figure III-I-9) <br /> Coal Basin is not within or adjacent to <br /> the antelope winter range, the antelope winter concentration <br /> areas , the mule deer winter range, the mule deer crucial <br /> areas , or the habitual range of the mountain lion (Figure <br /> III-I-10) . <br /> Coal Basin is not within or adjacent to <br /> the eagle winter habitat nor within the raptor nesting <br /> habitat . (Figure III-I-11) . <br /> b . Biota <br /> (1) . Habitat <br /> Coal Creek, which drains the Coal Basin, <br /> flows into the Crystal River , which in turn empties into the <br /> Roaring Fork River , which in turn empties into the Colorado <br /> River . A monitoring program by the U . S . Forest Service <br /> indicates the Crystal River drainage generally exhibits good <br /> water quality (See Table III-I-1) . <br /> -34- <br />
