The Colorado Department of Health has classi- <br /> fied all streams within the Thompson Creek Planning Unit , <br /> including Coal Creek and its tributaries , as B-1 . Streams <br /> designated B-1 must meet the following standards : <br /> Standard Class B-1 <br /> Settleable Solids Essentially Free <br /> Floating Solids it " <br /> Taste, Odor , Color " " <br /> Toxic Materials it " <br /> Oil and Grease Maximum - 10 mg/1 <br /> Radioactive Materials Drinking Water Standards <br /> Salinity At or below present levels <br /> Fecal Coliform Geometric Mean of 1000/100 <br /> ml From 5 samples in 30 <br /> day period <br /> Turbidity No increase or more than <br /> lOJTU ' s <br /> Dissolved Oxygen 6 mg/1 minimum <br /> Total Dissolved Gas <br /> Pressure Maximum 110% <br /> pH 6 . 0 - 9 . 0 <br /> Temperature Maximum 680 F <br /> Maximum Change 20 F <br /> Fecal Streptococcus - - - <br /> Variations from the standards are allowed <br /> only when it can be shown that receiving streams will not be <br /> harmed . <br /> Mid-Continent is required by the State <br /> Department of Health to maintain water quality records <br /> showing compliance with the Federal Water Pollution Control <br /> Act . Consequently, a monitoring network has been set up by <br /> yiid-Continent, after consultation with the U . S . Forest <br /> Service (Figure III-I-5) . Results are presented in Table <br /> III-I-1 . <br /> -18- <br />
