April 2012
6.0 REQUIRED FACILITY IMPROVEMENTS
Page 6 -1
The Professional Engineer's certification of this plan is contingent on the following facility
improvements being implemented for compliance with SPCC regulations 40 CFR 112:
1. Acquire additional spill pallets or similar containment for smaller containers. Stacking
5- gallon buckets three to four high defeats the purpose of a spill pallet.
2. Tidy up oil house — properly dispose of empty containers, used oil filters, miscellaneous
containers of used oil, etc.
3. Dispose of/clean up 55- gallon drums located outside used oil containment area and
maintain good housekeeping procedures.
4. Install proper signage per the SPCC Plan near ASTs.
5. Apply proper and consistent labels that describe the contents of all ASTs.
6. Install barriers or similar protective devices around the diesel stock tank.
7. Install bollards or similar protective devices around used oil tanks.
8. Mount and label fire extinguishers around all tanks.
9. Ensure that all drains to secondary containments are secured to prevent accidental
draining.
10. Have the tanks inspected by a certified STI /API inspector. Depending on inspections
results, the following may be recommended:
• Different/emergency venting
• Corrosion protection
• Identify and implement an inspection schedule
11. Install gauges /alarms as discussed in Section 4.3.8.
12. Ensure that hoses are placed inside the containment when not in use.
SPCC Plan
MR 115 Page 27 -26 Rev. May 2012
