April 28 , 1987
Dear Mr. gxry:
We are in receipt of your pre-amendment review of the
Climax Mine file . Presently, we are in the process of
reviewing this document internally and drawing together
relevant available data from our files. When this process
is complete, we will be in contact with you to arrange a
meeting. Tentatively, this probably will occur in June
depending on scheduling.
There are two items in the above referenced document cover
letter which necessitate a brief comment. First , AMAX
Mineral Resources intends to file with the Board a formal
notice of temporary cessation for the Climax Mine under the
stipulations of Rule 1. 62 if , after September 2, 1987 ( 180
days ) , production has not commenced ( or is not being
planned ) . Second , the Climax Mine does not intend to
initiate any additional large-scale revegetation test plots
during 1987. Aside from the obvious major constraints of
manpower and budget during this shut-down period, the four
( 4 ) 0. 25 acre test plots established on the Robinson
tailing pond in 1986 have not yet had any time to produce
results (positive or negative ) . Logically, data from these
plots would be utilized to plan and initiate larger scale
programs in the near future.
