Todd <br /> AMAX Mineral Resources <br /> 1707 Cole Blvd. <br /> Golden, Colorado 80401 <br /> ( 303) 231-0675 <br /> Mine Contact : Bob Kilborn <br /> Climax Mine <br /> Climax, Colorado 80429 <br /> Control of wind blown tailing dust at the Climax Mine was <br /> initiated on or about May 25, 1987 after snowmelt occurred <br /> and the tailing ponds dried adequately to support heavy <br /> equipment. <br /> Coherex is the primary product utilized to control blowing <br /> tails at Climax. This product has been used annually at the <br /> mine for 12 years and has proven durable and cost-effective. <br /> Coherex was tested by Woodward-Clyde Consultants in 1981 in <br /> comparison with five other commercially available dust <br /> suppressants and found to be efficient and cost-effective. A <br /> copy of this test report is available as an attachment to the <br /> Climax Mine Dust Control Plan ( the Plan ) as approved on <br /> December 4 , 1986 by the Colorado Air Pollution Control <br /> Division. <br /> Application of Coherex began on the crest of #1 Dam on the <br /> Robinson tailing pond (Figure 1 ) and proceeded to the flats <br /> of Robinson , Ten Mile , and Mayflower ponds respectively . <br /> Concurrently, access roads were dozed across #1 Dam, #3 Dam <br /> (Ten Mile) , and #5 Dam (Mayflower) .
