• 2.05.6(6)
2.05.6(6) Subsidence Survey, Subsidence Monitoring, and Subsidence Control Plan
(a) An inventory of all structures and renewable resource lands which exist
within the proposed permit and adjacent area.
Numerous structures are located within the proposed permit and adjacent
area along old State Highway 133. The structures are associated with the
old King Mine and a few private homes and outbuildings. The Fire Mountain
Canal and Deer Trail Ditch are also located along the old State Highway.
Since these structures are geologically below the coal seam to be mined,
they cannot be affected by subsidence in the traditional sense. However,
structures below the coal seam to be mined may be damaged by landslides
or rockfalls activated by subsidence.
The Hughes' cabins are located along Terror Creek in the central portion of
the mining area. The Operator's Hubbard Creek fansite is located on the
eastern edge of the permit boundary.
Numerous springs and ponds are located in the permit and adjacent area.
Groundwater within the formation could be considered a renewable resource.
A few decreed water rights are located within the permit boundary and
adjacent area. The Pitkin Mesa Pipeline Company has a 6" pipeline
(aqueduct) that runs parallel to Steven's Gulch, bisecting the far Western
edge of the permit boundary.
Portions of Hubbard Creek, Terror Creek, and Stevens Gulch are within the
permit boundary and adjacent area. The Bruce Park Dams are considered
to be within the adjacent area. A landslide exists along the west side of the
Terror Creek Reservoir to the northwest of the western dam abutment. The
Operator understands the landslide initially moved during the early to mid
1980s.
Terror Ditch lies entirely outside the limits of mining and is not within the
permit area. Additionally, a portion of the power line which runs in a north
south direction in the Terror Creek drainage is within the permit boundary or
adjacent area.
PR -12 2.05-132- Pi2ovED
I16 /la
06/10
