Thompson,
Mid-Continent Resources hereby requests a Technical Revision to
Permit #C-017-81 for the construction of a light use road at the
Sutey Refuse Disposal Area ( Figure 1 ) . This road is needed to
allow access to the new conveyor construction area and the
occasional monitoring of the completed conveyor.
As will be noted on figure 1 the proposed location of the new
road takes off from the switch-back of the existing road. The
location of the new road will lie entirely within our permit
boundary area. The overall grade will be 9 . 5% with a maximum
pitch grade of 10% (Figure 2 ) .
The length of the new road will be 1850 feet . Assuming an average
road width of 15 ' , and an additional 15 ' for the cuts and fills ,
the total acreage of disturbance will be 1 . 27 acres . The ridge
where the road is to be located is composed mainly of Mancos
Shale with very little topsoil available . A conservative average
depth of topsoil in this area is 6" . Therefore, 1030 yards of
topsoil will be removed and stockpiled at the approved Sutey
topsoil location .
The construction sequence for this road will be as follows :
1 ) All topsoil will be removed and stockpiled .
2 ) A 24" diameter culvert will be placed at station 0+00
( junction of existing road and new road) .
3 ) Where cuts are in unconsolidated material the slope will
be 1V: 1 . 5H. Cuts in Mancos Shale will be 1V: 0 . 25H.
When operations cease, and final reclamation has begun, the road
will be put back to its approximate original contour and
reclaimed. The bonding calculations for this road are as follows :
156
