As shown on
the enclosed map, labled II-B-APP 5-14, the permit boundary
change will increase the permit area by 40 acres. The
purpose for this permit boundary change is to totally
encompass the projected life-of-mine refuse disposal area.
The present land owner of this area is the U.S. Forest
Service. A special use permit allowing Mid-Continent
Resources, Inc. to use this area was granted by the Forest
Service. A copy of the special use permit is enclosed with
this request. The 40 acre special use permit is for surface
activity only and does not include any coal bearing lands.
When Mid-Continent Resources originally permitted the Sutey
Refuse Disposal Area, detailed maps and information
concerning water quality, soil types and amounts, and
geotechnical characteristics of this proposed expansion area
were submitted and are contained in our present 'permit
application.
A proposed public notice for this Technical Revision is
enclosed for your reveiw and will be published in a local
newspaper after the Division has deemed our request
complete.
If you have any questions or comments concerning this
request please feel free to contact me or Diane Delaney.
Sincerely,
Scott ones
Environmental Coordinator
148
